LAVAILLE LAVETTE

With a background in marketing and education, Lavaille Lavette has worked as a schoolteacher, school district administrator, speechwriter, marketing executive, and radio host. From 2001-2005, she served as special advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Education, Dr. Rod Page. Heavily involved in the community, Lavaille serves on the board of directors of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Aspiring Youth Foundation and the Foxshire Foundation. Additionally, she is a founding Board Member and the first President of the Houston-Luanda Africa Sister City Association. Lavaille is the author of the best-selling book series, “Steve Harvey Presents the Adventures of Roopster Roux” and the upcoming series, “The Peppermint Club For Girls.

VUTHY KUON

Vuthy Kuon, pronounced “wood-TEE kwan,” has been featured on NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX television promoting his work as an author, illustrator, and public speaker. He has spoken at hundreds of schools and conferences, entertaining hundreds and thousands of children and adults across the nation. Inspired at the Rhode Island School of Design by his professors David Macaulay, Barry, Moser, and Mary Jane Begin, Kuon is now most recognized for his art and writing in children’s books. However, his talents have also been showcased as a cartoonist, designer, and photographer. He currently resides in Houston, Texas and enjoys spending most of his time creating and inspiring people with his stories and art.

CHARLES NGUYEN

Charles Nguyen is a young, creative and energetic entrepreneur with strong business acumen specializing in interactive strategy and buzz marketing. Charles’ first successful venture was launching an entertainment and special events company in Houston, which targeted Generation Y, helping to create a much talked about wanderlust, fashion-forward culture and night scene. Charles is currently the brainchild of successful interactive upstart, BrandnKim. Based in Manhattan, the lean and mean agency specializes in interactive strategy and solutions. Charles has also dabbled in management consulting, grassroots/social marketing and ambient advertising. In addition, he has a prestigious career at a large blue-chip firm servicing Fortune 500 clients in Manhattan. He is inspired by strong brand ambassadors like Richard Branson, Steve Jobs, and Jay Z. Charles lives and works in Manhattan although he is a true Texan at heart.
